CFL Fantasy Picks Week 17: DraftKings, TSN

A few notes to hit on before we get into this week’s CFL Fantasy breakdown.

Toronto’s James Franklin was decent last week after taking back the starting job from Mcleod Bethel-Thompson. It was a perplexing move, as Bethel-Thompson had been having a super solid season from a fantasy standpoint. Outside of a few duds, he had been pretty consistent as well. Toronto will take on B.C. this week who have reeled off three in a row.

Don Jackson is officially listed as questionable this week which makes the Stamps running back situation a little cloudy. If he ends up a full go, he is a great play against Montreal.

QUARTERBACK

Bo Levi Mitchell

DraftKings = $9,200/$50,000
TSN = $8,930/$40,000

I like the idea of paying down at quarterback this week for Bo Levi Mitchell. He doesn’t necessarily have the coveted upside but has a game every once in a while where he can surprise us. That game might be the week. He and Eric Rogers have been in a groove lately and the receiving corps might be adding Reggie Begelton back into the mix this week. That should only boost Mitchell’s chances of a productive fantasy day. His matchup and price make him a nice bet to hit value. He serves as a nice CFL Fantasy tournament option since he may go overlooked with the number of good options this week.

RUNNINGBACK

John White IV

DraftKings = $8,200/$50,000
TSN = $7,285/$40,000

John White’s workload has been up and down for the majority of the season. In the past two weeks, it looks like it may be trending back in the right direction. He has at least 14 carries and three catches in each of the past two games. He has also found paydirt in both of those games as well. Look for that trend to continue here as the Lions take on Toronto. Rewinding to week 4, John White IV ran wild over this Argonauts defence. He carried the ball 22 times for 138 yards and a touchdown while adding four catches for 28 yards. Let’s see if history repeats itself.

WIDE RECEIVER

Eric Rogers

DraftKings = $8,800/$50,000
TSN = $8,095/$40,000

Rogers seems to have rekindled his connection with his quarterback. Some of this has to do with the fact that the number of bodies to throw to had only been Rogers. As of now, it looks like Reggie Begelton will be back in the lineup, which will eat into Rogers’ target share. That is cause for concern, but Rogers is still firmly in play. His matchup combined with his price makes Rogers one of the best plays on the board.

DEFENCE

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

DraftKings = $5,100/$50,000
TSN = $4,637/$40,000

With solid low-price opttions this week at each position, a luxury defence is affordable in CFL Fantasy this week. That said, Hamilton is the preferred way to go. They have already seen Logan Kilgore once, but will now get to play him on their home turf. Although Kilgore has been able to salvage some solid fantasy outings with rushing touchdowns, he has turned the ball over a total of seven times in just three games (four interceptions, three fumbles). Hamilton should be able to take full advantage of Kilgore’s turnover problems.
